Rescission Period - Those 5 crucial days Vidanta Vida Vacations does NOT want you to know about

So here's something worth knowing: You have 5 days after signing Vida Vacations' contract to 'rescind' (terminate) it. If you are reading this within that timeframe, I urge you to RUN, not walk back into the office where you heard the sales pitch, bring all your papers with you, don't let them pitch (or preferably even speak) again, and get that thing terminated!! Once you've done that, you can come back to this site and read all the reasons why that was the best possible decision, but trust me, go do that first!!

Unfortunately, if you're on this site there's a decent chance those 5 days are already up. In fact there's a more than decent chance that like me, you had no idea you were on the clock anyway. Why? Because Vida Vacations went out of their way to make sure you did not know anything about this. The following are a few of the places and opportunities for full disclosure, transparency, and just general good faith sales that Vidanta did NOT take advantage of:

  1. During the sales pitch - You only spent 5-7 hours there right? I'm sure it just slipped their mind to mention it...

  2. On the actual Cover Page/Agreement Sheet - It only lists the most salient details, like your membership specs and the cost, why would this be a useful place to talk about the finality of putting your name on this page.

  3. On the Verification Page - they made a huge deal of this right? You went to another room, saw a new person, they carefully walked you through each bullet making sure you understand what you are being sold. It even says on there that the purpose of that page is to present the "important terms" of the contract. Am I wrong in thinking that a cancellation period of less than a week is not an important term that the average person would want to be aware of?

  4. In the follow-up email later that day/next day - "Welcome to the Club! Here are the key points from the presentation... We're sending you this summary in the hopes you don't spend the three hours of fine-print-reading required to locate the term 'rescission' buried within an unmarked paragraph. Don't worry, we certainly aren't going to mention it here!"

On future posts I'll be adding in scans of all my contract pages so we can delve into just how buried this fairly pertinent detail is. I'll also be collating a spreadsheet of how much we all spent so that anyone reading this before signing (that doesn't immediately run screaming for the hills) at least negotiates down to the lowest possible cost based on what we come up with. I hope you'll share your stories below and help spread the word!

We just got involved in one of their programs, but it was not one of the programs you are presented and pushed on the first floor, we said No to every offer, when they saw us that we had no intentions to buy, they walked us to another building where other people ( they said they were working for the construction company, not Vidanta) and the make us another offer with a ridiculos price, $2500 USD for a membership for 400 weeks, but those weeks we realize that they were to be scheduled on another hotels not the Vidanta ones, so we realize that after we came back to the hotel, the call themselves as Destinations Unlimited operated by anothe…

We are Grand Luxxe owners who were made so many promises and were lied to so many times. I am looking to find a way to stop their unscrupulous sales practices. I would love to find a way to start a class action lawsuit in Mexico, but I am afraid that there is no one brave enough to take on Vidanta. I have no complaint with the Resorts themselves and since they are such a major employer in Mexico, we probably don't stand a chance. There are so many things we were lied to about that I only want to mention a few here. The two biggest things are: 1) That we would be able to apply our "equity" into…
